Just Hanging Out

Well, it's been a while since that last performance and "The Little Pink Dress" has started to wonder if those Staten Island performances were her last.

The actress hasn't been asked to play the mother's role lately. So, "The Little Pink Dress' hasn't been needed on stage.

She's been enjoying some much needed rest. She was starting to come apart at some of her seams.

The actress patched her up and now "The Little Pink Dress" is learning to enjoy her down time.

She's done some reading.

Watched some TV.

And, of course, updated her blog.

But, she spends most of her time hanging out in the actress's closet.

She's getting to know some of the other clothes in there.

Sometimes they make up stories and act them out. But it's not the same.

There's just nothing like being on the stage.

"The Little Pink Dress" hasn't given up. She knows that show business is an up and down business, and she's had a great run.

Why just a few months ago, she was hanging in a costume shop in Broken Arrow, OK. She was just like all the other dresses, shirts, blouses and pants - waiting to be noticed.

Now, she has a resume of shows in New York, Ohio and Virginia, and she's been in some lovely theatres, on some lovely stages.

She couldn't ask for more.
Well, she could, but she won't. She'll just wait to see where life takes her next.

Staten Island Here We Come!

It seemed like FOREVER from the time of the Virginia tour until “The Little Pink Dress” got to hit the stage again. And, what a stage!!
In March, “Pinkalicious” was slated for a one day tour to St. George’s Theatre on Staten Island.

Sure, it’s not that far from Bleecker Street, but hey, a tour is a tour :)
And, St. George’s Theater is gorgeous!!

And, "The Little Pink Dress” got to perform on this stage.

Here’s the view she had from the stage -

- only the seats were full of people.

Backstage was pretty much the same as any show.

Hey, what’s that red dress doing?

How did she manage to step in front of “The Little Pink Dress” before the camera snapped a photo?

Oh, well. It was a long day, with two shows – one in the morning and one in the evening – but it was a great day.

And, “The Little Pink Dress” was happy.

She could stop performing today and feel like she’d had a good life. But she hoped that wouldn’t happen.

Going to the BEACH!

OK. The beach wasn’t the first stop on the tour. But, it was the second stop.

The Virginia tour performed in Suffolk in the Birdsong Theatre at the Suffolk Center for the Cultural Arts.
“The Little Pink Dress” and the cast and crew of “Pinkalicious” did two performances for school children on Feb. 13.

“The Little Pink Dress” realized during these performances
that she never gets tired of this performing thing –

whether it’s being on the stage, or just waiting backstage to go on and eventually to the beach.

After the second show in Suffolk, it was off to Virginia Beach for some fun in the sun!

Then it was back to Suffolk and the Birdsong Theatre where they would do a show at 11 a.m. on Valentine’s Day.

What a great day! “The Little Pink Dress” was doing what she loved on the day of love.
It just couldn’t get any better. Or could it??

OHIO!

The Midland Theatre in Newark, Ohio, was the first stop on the tour for “The Little Pink Dress” and the cast and crew of “Pinkalicious, The Musical.”
They received a nice welcome from the theatre people and got a glimpse of the lovely theatre where they would be performing.

Then it was off to their hotel rooms for some rest and relaxation.

The room “The Little Pink Dress” shared with the actress had a lovely view of the church across the street. Newark is a quaint little place.

If you have a chance you should go visit.

But, back to The Adventures of “The Little Pink Dress.”

She had performances every day Feb. 4-6, but it wasn’t all work. There was definitely time for play.

“The Little Pink Dress” took some time to take a walk around the town square where the theatre was located. She stopped to rest by a statue of Mark Twain. It seems he likes to hang out on that bench in front of the entrance to the theatre.

One day, Ronald McDonald came to the theatre and “The Little Pink Dress” got to dance with him on the stage of the Midland Theatre. What a thrill!!!

When she wasn’t performing, sightseeing or dancing with celebrities, “The Little Pink Dress” spent time in her room writing letters, talking to friends on the phone or just hanging out with the actress’s other clothes – telling them about her great adventures.

From Newark, “The Little Pink Dress” and the rest of the “Pinkalicious” gang traveled to Canton, Ohio, for a day of shows. Then it was back to New York.

But, what’s this??

Another tour was leaving next week for Virginia! And, “The Little Pink Dress” was going to go!!

The Adventure continues!

Off to NYC

After their initial meeting, the actress and “The Little Pink Dress” flew off to New York City for the first step of their adventure.

The actress would be appearing in an off-Broadway production of “Pinkalicious, The Musical” in the Bleecker Street Theatre at 45 Bleecker Street in the East Village of Manhattan.

“Pinkalicious” started as a book, written by sisters Elizabeth Kann and Victoria Kann. It’s the story of a little girl who loves everything pink. One day, she eats too many pink cupcakes and turns pink from head to toe. She ends up in the doctor’s office where she’s diagnosed with pinkititis. When Pinkalicious refuses to follow doctor’s orders and her parents’ pleading, her new hue goes too far and she has to take drastic measures.
It’s a really fun story and boys and girls love it. So do their parents.

The book was such a success it was turned into a musical with book and lyrics by Elizabeth Kann and Victoria Kann, and music and lyrics by John Gregor.
The show is directed by Teresa K. Pond.
“The Little Pink Dress” was thrilled to be in NYC, but had no time for sightseeing. She had to get to work right away.

The first performance was scheduled for Jan. 3 and it was amazing!!!
“The Little Pink Dress” had to wait until the end of the show for her debut.
You see, she’s a special outfit the actress wears only in the final musical number of the show.

But, finally it was time to go on the stage. And, it was magical.

The audience seemed to accept her and the other actors told her she’d done a great job after the show.

In fact, “The Little Pink Dress” was asked to go on tour with the actress when the show made its way to Ohio in February.

“The Little Pink Dress” was thrilled!!! Of course, she’d go. How could she refuse??

In the Beginning

In the beginning, there was polyester and chiffon and it was placed in the hands of a seamstress who created - "The Little Pink Dress."

No one knows for sure when she was created, or where, or what her early years were like. But eventually, she found her way into the costume shop of the Broken Arrow Community Playhouse in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where she hung around for no one knows how long.

Then one day, an actress from New York walked into the costume shop searching for the perfect dress for an off-Broadway show she was doing in January, 2009.

The actress only needed the dress for one performance - perhaps two - and she'd looked all over New York City and Tulsa trying to find just the right thing.

But, on that fateful day in December, 2008, she walked into the BACP costume shop and found "The Little Pink Dress" and it was magic.

A choir of angels sang and a bright light shown from heaven as the actress entered the costume shop and hanging right there - as if it was part of a bigger plan - was "The Little Pink Dress."

The actress tried on "The Little Pink Dress" and, of course, it was a perfect fit. She'd found the dress she had been looking for, and it was the beginning of a wondrous journey for "The Little Pink Dress."
